New from SA

Postby Karookop » 20 Jun 2015, 21:20

Hi, my name is Carel and I also got directed here via Mike's house building thread on the SA 4X4 Community Forum, which I found awesome and commendable!

After a couple of visits, I have a special interest for the historical places in the UK which includes wonderful creations in woodwork.

I am a mechanical engineer and adore handcrafted masterpieces of which woodwork is one of them.

Regards.

Carel.

Hi Carel!

And, having made my first trp to South Africa last Easter can I add that I am very jealous of anyone who has the privilege to live in Stellenbosch.

All the best,
Terry.

Welcome to the forum :)

My background is engineering too. Sheet metal and electrical manufacturing so working with wood in retirement has made a change. I guess I still work in similar ways but there has been plenty of learning. Metal tends to stay the same size after you've made something... wood sometimes has other ideas.

I've only been to SA once driving the garden route from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth and back over 2 weeks. look forward to going back sometime.

And a welcome from me too. We (or Mike G) seem to have quite a following down there.

I've added your details to our Members Map all of our other SA members are quite some way from you though.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers
