Hullo from Switzerland

Postby AES » 24 Jul 2014, 01:13

"Evenin awl"!

Just registered here because I got a PM over on "the other side" from Myfordman telling me this Forum was up and running ("again" apparently). I say "again" because although I've been a member of UKW for a couple of years or so now, I didn't know about this Forum until some stuff started over there a few weeks back saying this Forum had gone down.

If this Forum turns out to be as useful and friendly as UKW has been then I certainly won't regret having found it at last.

I've put some outline info in my Profile. But for anyone who's wondering why someone based in Switzerland is interested in an English language Forum, as you've probably guessed from my complete lack of accent (!) I'm originally a Brit, married to a Swiss lady (also pretty interested in "hand work" of all sorts). Been here for 20+ years now and as I pay taxes here I decided to go through the motions and get a Swiss passport. So at least I get to vote on how my tax money is spent (they seldom listen to me though!).

Before moving here in 1990, we've also lived in various other places around the globe, so I haven't resided in UK for over 35 years. I do get there from time to time though, but these days it's primarily for business

I regard myself as acomplete beginner, especially re woodworking, but I have seen on UKW that sometimes people need help with translating stuff into/out of German, so if anyone here should need any help with that just send me a PM.

Best wishes to all.

Thanks Gents.

I do love my "classification" (seedling)! The first time that anyone has thought of me in that way for a VERY long time!

And to the rest of you Gents, thanks again for a warm welcome. As I'm not only new here but also a complete novice I'll be doing more watching than posting for a while.

Hello Andy
Welcome aboard from abroad!

Btw, if you hear the sound of the bagpipes coming from a mountain top over there, it's a good chance it's my Scottish friend Scott. Lol.

Cheers,
fred
