Hi all,
I have just joined this forum at the beginning of my (late in life) start in woodworking. I am a mining engineer and have long been into mechanical and electrical engineering and, oddly enough, making model aircraft! The move to wood has been a natural development as I get older! I am not into lying on the ground, kneeling and crouching these days so no more car building!
So, I have built a workshop, 7m x 3m (see pic) and am busy filling it u with toys using the proceeds of selling my metalworking gear, Myford Super 7 et al. My wife cant moan about that...much.
I dont think that I will be able to develop the hand skills to come close to lifelong woodworkers (my brother in law for example who can hand saw an 8 x 4 sheet in half perfectly) so I am looking to machinery to help and I love that bit!
OK enough, I like the look of this forum and no doubt will be asking for lots of help so thanks in advance!
John
ps sorry no pic - takes a bit of working out...soon i hope

Welcome to TWH2 John. Glad you took the hint and dropped in. Its a friendly place and all sorts of expertise to call upon.
You will need another couple of posts under your belt before the moderation thing goes away and then you will be able to post photos. There is a tutorial in the tips section on how to do this.

Cheers
Bob

Welcome aboard. You managed to duplicate the last post so you count is up to 4. Plenty enough to start posting images. Hosting photos off site, ie photobucket, helps keep the forum costs and admin down. If you get stuck just shout.

John, I have sorted out your photo and left your original image string for reference.

All you need to do is copy the string of characters in the box labelled IMG, it is normally the last of 4. Then copy that string into the posts. You do not need to use the Img tags above if you do it this way. Hope that helps.

Great workshop BTW. I have seen a few but never one with a door like that. Great idea.

Andy,

Thanks very much. I was trying to do it on an iPad which, coupled with my innate dumbness proved a bit difficult.
Yes the door is remotely controlled, I love it!
More pics tomorrow

By the way, I meant to thank you all for the warm welcomes.
Mike, I am a Devon boy, from Plymouth originally so have no problem with Devon annexing Somerset...! They will probably take my passport away now

Good to hear it. I'm (sort of) from North Devon. School in Barnstable, lived on the edge of Exmoor.

Welcome aboard John.

Look forward to seeing stuff start to come out of your workshop, models too, I have young kids and when my shop is built I want to start doing some modelling with them.

Cheers

Hi John,

Welcome to the Forum from Yorkshire. Not been a member long myself, but the folk ...seem... friendly enough ;) ... and very helpful indeed. Great to have some more electrical and mechanical knowledge on the boards.

Nice looking shop, look forward to seeing some projects - we love pix :eusa-dance:

I was born 'n' bred on the IoW (webbed feet and all that!), it's a beautiful place - enjoy
:obscene-drinkingcheers:

Cheers,

Jim
