Hello from sunny Galloway

Postby Paul200 » 13 Feb 2017, 11:00

Hi all. Just been accepted and thought I'd say hello. I retired 3 years ago after selling my tool shop in Bridgwater, Somerset. Moved up to this beautiful part of Scotland 2 years ago and have been busy knocking our tired old house into shape since.

Although I've no formal training I've always liked to make things from wood and just before we moved discovered that I particularly like making jewellery boxes. This new game had to come to a halt when we moved because the house was 'tired' and needed work and there is no workshop here.

As soon as the weather warms up a bit I'll be laying a concrete pad base for my new workshop and If you want I'll bore you all with the gory details of the build.

Thanks for having me.

Hi Paul, and welcome aboard.

I spent between the ages of around 3-7 living in Lochmaben which is probably not too far from you. Love that part of the world but no family there any more so not visited in many a long year. Must take my kids up for the day to have a look around.

Cheers

Welcome Paul.

I look forward to the new workshop thread. They're always interesting.

Loved Galloway when we cycled through it on our Land's End-John O'Groats ride a few years ago. Beautiful part of the world.

Hi Mark. We're about 40 odd miles west of Lochmaben in the Stewartry. It is a lovely part of the country which, for some reason, most people drive straight past on their way up to the Highlands. And that's why we like it ;)

Guides to photo posting if you need it are in the tips and tutorials section.
Photobucket tended to be the host of choice by many members but there has been a shift towards Imgur as a good photo host recently as they have less/no adverts.
