The old lady

Postby titch22 » 14 Dec 2017, 07:34

When you retire some folk go on cruises. I choose to build a decent workshop. This will keep me occupied on my wood and metal sculptures and pieces of art and provide a craft hub for the creative, local ladies.

Doing up 8 house, fitting 4 new kitchens, preparing and concreting large drive are some of my DIY projects, so, although not green, i still have a lot to learn. I am up for a challenge, research and take advice and enjoy problem solving.
Mistakes have been made and learnt from but I do my best. Posting on here gives me the opportunity to mix with like minded people. My son and daughter do not get it. Concrete is not their favourite topic.
Position of workshop...bottom of the garden, slight slope, shaded partly by neighbours large leylandies (which are going to be cut cut down). Kept dimensions outside of the need for planning permission.
14ft 6inch x 9ft base
Three inch Concrete base in three sections. Two outer sections then centre one. On hardcore. Strength and stamina dictates work. Summer 2017.

Yo, Titch. Welcome from Devon.

Me, too. My mate went on a world tour when he retired and all out mates though it was wonderful. I build a workshop as my retirement treat, and they all take the p?ss, except my mate on the world tour; he's the only one who's helped with the build.

I like your style; creative local ladies! I was thinking of lonely local men, but I might have to re-evaluate! ;)

They're a good bunch on here.

Welcome to the Haven Titch and thanks for the the intro.
More power to you for getting stuck in to the workshop project.

As your workshop build progresses maybe you could start a new thread in the workshop builds section of the forum. We have a wealth of experience amongst forum members on the subject of workshop builds so please do feel free to ask any questions here and get the advice to put your mind at rest and keep your build on track.

Some sort of dwarf walls to go on your slab comes next. To get a long-life structure it is vital that timbers do not sit at slab level.
