Good morning everyone and hello

Postby Johnfarris657 » 27 Jun 2019, 10:19

My name is John been a lurker for a while and thought I would say hello before I start seeking advice :)
Love working with wood and have done so for a few years now. Most projects I do tend to have steep learning curves for me.

I have a workshop that it 20 x 5m which is full of various cast iron machinery that I have managed to purchase over the years. I enjoy making jigs and discovering new ways of doing things.
Most of the projects I do are designed using sketchup

Some of the projects and aims I would like to achieve over the coming months are in no particular order:
1. Festool mfi top which is mounted on a wall and tilted so I can clamp my projects upright.
2. Get my chip extractor on a remote.
3. Build a mitre station with decent dust collection for my Makita LS1013 Compound Mitre Saw.
4. Current project (12ft hockey stick gate made out of Iroko).

Like to put in what I take out so will try to contribute to the forum when I can

John

Hi John and welcome aboard.

That’s a big old workshop you’ve got there, sounds good. Pictures are mandatory and tell me more about what a ‘hockey stick gate’ is...

EDIT: ignore that, I’ve just Googled it. The name threw me, I just call that a farm gate!

Cheers

Welcome John,

Regards remote controlling your extractor, Have a read of this thread which details my trials and tribulations
viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1920&hilit=Remote

Nearly 3 years on the layest RC socket and control are still working perfectly.

Without looking I guess a hockey stick gate is one with the elongated curved angled brace.

For my mitre saw station I bought a simple master slave multisocket from the local shed and attached to a shop vac in the base of the cabinet. When the mitre saw comes on so does the vac.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers

Welcome John. 100 sq m of workshop space! Sounds perfect. I think you have to post another couple of posts before our spam filter frees you up to post photos, but as soon as you can some photos of your workshop and some of your projects would be great.

Hello everyone and thank you for the welcome.

Made a bit of a mistake on my first post  my workshop is 15 x 5m not 15 x 15m.
Next time I will check for errors twice and post once LOL.

That's not what you claimed. You said (it still says) 20m x 5m.
