Moved over to here from we know where.

Loghead here. Have been here for some considerable time, but my Lady's illness about eight years ago caused a major blip in my MoJo. Not quite happy in the other place, so maybe it's time I concentrated on Woodhaven, and my other 'family'. Still appearing there, but growing weary. Maybe time to set up my new bench over here?

I think you'll know who I was if I tell you I am from West Muddylands near Junction 7, M6

My new bench? (Clue - Has strange wayze!) I had a brainwave, and realised I could make a good, basic bench for less than £300.00. Nothing fancy; just an 80mm thick top and a Douglas Fir under-frame, with a humongous Paramo QR vice. So I am gonna get stuck in! At 82 years, wish me luck folks.

Nice and friendly here John, you know it makes sense.

Welcome John. The reference to ‘ West Muddylands ’ helped identify you (- before I read the next paragraph!). :)

Hi John.
Whilst I've been a member here for some time, I mainly visited the "dark site" until very recently but the increased bitching and moaning since the takeover have taken most of the pleasure out of what was meant to be a woodworking site..
Its good to see so many recognised names are now posting here so this is now my first port of call.
I'm still up the road if you need anything, just give me a shout.

Hi Folks.

:D
Thanks for all the good wishes and the welcome. Yes I am getting back into the swing, and I'm starting with a new work bench. It has to be smaller though. 22" deep by 60" long. The top is a pair of beech worktops, (Worktop Express) sandwiched together, Cos I can't handle the 4 x 2s to glue up a top. I'm using Douglas Fir for the 'undercarriage', and most probably will include a sliding dead-man to work with the vice. I'm undecided though on dog-holes, as most of my life I've been using benches without them. Time for a change maybe!!! Will keep you posted.

PS I'll get around to you all directly...
Thanks again.

J

Hello John. I always thought benchwayze was a good internet name!
Don't like: wood, engines, electrickery, decorating, tiling, laying stone, plumbing, gardening or any kind of DIY. Not wild about spiders either.
