Yes I thought it was quite useful. I'll possibly put it into the forum dropbox as well.

However most of the highest durability woods I've never heard of and would not know where to get in UK.

Well sort of - depends if you regard accoya to be a wood "species" or a treatment.

But at least it can be used comparatively.

Very useful, Bob. If you cross-check against the CITES that will tell you if you even have the slightest chance of getting the timber. But even if the timber is not on CITES, there is a high chance that China has nabbed most of what's available. The prices of exotic hardwoods has quadrupled in some instances over the last few years due to the penchant for Chinese middle classes for hardwood furniture.

Is there an relativity in the chart viz positioning of the species. Closer to the middle = more durable within that category, for instance ?
If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door.

I dont think there is any significance to the position within a sector. I stared at it for a while hoping for something but concluded not in the end.

obviously we have oak framed buildings with exposed beams that are several 100's of yrs old .. but you can get the 'jist' from the chart :-)

good to have filed away somewhere ! :-)
