Nah...far too tidy...I reckon he never does any work really  ;)

He'd get a good job in Tesco's straightening the shelves, I reckon :D

Yeah I prefer the "where there is work there is no order" mantra :D
I do not think therefore I do not am.

After which I did the lathe drawers & altered the lathe chisels rack by which time I run out of gear to sort so I started on a cover for the saw/spindle.

Oh I have that all the time whether it's somewhere tidy or not. It's called ageing!!

But Mrs Malc 'tidies' stuff up every now and then and just when I've got used to finding it in one pace, it's moved!!

Doug wrote:Managed to make a start on the storage cupboard next to the door this afternoon, this is full of fixings, glues, finishes, dustmasks etc that I need both in the shop but also on site hence building it by the door, this is what it looked like before I started.

I've had a transformer & ratchet type 110volt extension above the cupboard ever since it's been built, it's been really useful whilst I've been doing building work but I couldn't have used it for at least a couple of years.

Image

So as part of the clear up I've removed the transformer & re-wired the extension to 240volt which will be much more useful as I quite often work on the paved area outside the shop & have to run a trailing lead out on those occasion.
After a few hours work & listening to a cd of an evening with Fred Dibnah this is how it ended up.

Seriously I thought the first before shot was an after shot until I scrolled down  that cupboard did not need tidying Doug, you're losing it my friend ;)

Tell me about this it Malc the present Mrs B leaves it just long enough for me to get used to were the mugs are then has a spring clean & relocates then to another cupboard

The first horizontal surface as you walk through the shop door is the cast top of the saw/spindle so this tends to become a dumping ground particularly as you need to put down what you have in your hands to switch the lights on.

I also tend to finish projects on it as it's near the door for ventilation & also near the rad for warmth, when doing this I usually cover it with a board which inevitably gets used on another project so the next time I'm finishing something I'm on the look out for another bit of board. So instead of using up the latest bit of board I thought I'd turn it into a dedicated top, so after running out some 2x1 1/4" I ran a groove on the spindle

Cut some mitres & domino slots

Then into clamps

Part of the out feed table goes under the bandsaw so I needed to notch round this so after adding some stiffening slats I removed the necessary section

Finally in position

Not only will it also serve as an out feed table but hopefully it will put an end to circular rust stain marks on the cast iron

Yebbut the idea was to creat more space, I threw away quite a bit of stuff that had either gone off or was no longer of use, pointless storing rubbish in one cupboard when you have other gear that needs a home.

Well that's my excuse & I'm sticking to it

now you just need a pulley system, so you can hoist it up when you want to use the space under it :-)

Now I'm getting confused, is that a different radiator to the one in the original pics?
