Chainsaw, Rip cut chain

Postby Andyp » 19 Feb 2017, 13:50

I only have the as supplied chain for my Husqvarna electric chainsaw. Sawing some logs to make blanks for the lathe has made it obvious that a rip chain would put far less strain on the motor.

Any advise on what or not to buy?
I do not think therefore I do not am.

I have found an Oregon Rip chain of the requied length, which, with only 52 DL was not easy. I read that the chances of kickback are increased if a rip blade is used to crosscut so I must make sure "check chain" is on my list before each use.

Phil, I like to think I am careful and I have promised never to use it without both feet on the ground. When taking the top 4 metres off my conifer hedge I did all the cutting in situ with a hand saw and only used the chainsaw once it was down.
I do not think therefore I do not am.
