A combination of both perhaps? :) A gothic hippie is someone who believes in peace and love, embraces and strives to be one with nature and a higher energy (often-times through the practice of Paganism or some other New Age activity). These people generally also have a fascination with history, particularly the Middle Ages and the Victorian era. They tend to have a dark and cynical sense of humour and take very little seriously except for major issues (peace, love, social rights, ect...

The first one looks........oooh.........Indonesian? Thai? I prefer it to the second. And yeah, I'd love to have a go at something like that.

The hotel we are staying at seems to have a thing about chairs, there’s some others I’ll try to get a shot of.

Nearby I took this sneaky photos (No Photography Allowed!!) of this oak beamed ceiling built in 1398:

Oi... less of the old if you don't mind please - thank you.

I was never a hippy - not really, maybe 'ish. I never got caught up in the drug scene either, although some thought I did without saying. I was more of a Goth in my teens and was nicknamed 'Coathanger' (14+)... even wore eye liner under one eye - don't remember which one though. :P

Yep, I love some history and I likes me trees. I feel drawn to the Middle Ages (I lived in Corfe Castle during a previous life!) and I feel a close connection to the Victorian period. I definitely do not have a dark cynical sense of humour and I take everything very seriously.

The rotating toggle locks the movement from the inside by preventing the slide action.

I think the top chair with high narrow back is called a prayer stool. My folks have one similar in design.

That Inglenook looks familiar - is it Cragside up in Northumberland? First place to have electric lights based on hydro electric power? Which could make some of the others Alnwick Castle?

EDIT : I think it is:

Lutyens stuff at Lindisfarne Castle which is pretty empty after having a £3m (I think) restoration.
