A nursery near here has been doing this for over a decade now. We still have a number of magnificent mature elms in this area which are obviously disease resistant, and so the nursery has collected samples from these and bred them up. The only difference is that they just quietly go about their business and don't make a splash at Chelsea.

Talking of Chelsea, a mate of mine has spent the last 3 months building a raised walk-way/ bridge thingy for a show garden at Chelsea. He trained as a shipwright, and when you see the curves on Gardeners World, you'll understand why they asked him to build it.
