Oak Split

Making a solid oak cross for my fathers grave but the oak i'm using is splitting and i have no idea how i can start the problem.Don't want to go back to the drawing board as i've already cut...routed and started to stain it.
Please can anyone help ?

Where did the oak come from? Ok an oak tree I suspect :lol: but was it green timber recently felled or dried from a wood yard? Bone dry and reclaimed from old furniture or........

Are you working in the house, outside or in a shed?

i bought it from a timber place just asked for a piece of oak . was thinking of gluing and clamping it .

Yes glue and as many clamps as you can.
Wipe the glue in across the crack. After an hour or so scrape off the excess
Wiping with a damp cloth as normal might drag out the wet glue from the crack.
