Plastic “wood”

Postby Woodster » 21 Apr 2020, 14:19

I need to replace a small picket fence at some point and I’m wondering if there’s anything out there like the composite decking you can get? I don’t want it to look obviously like plastic though, any thoughts?

Someone here - might be RogerM (?) has used composite boards to build a deck with a write up.

A chap round the corner has brown plastic (UPVC?) fence posts and caps which have suffered badly from fading in the sun over about 5 years. Huge contrast between different faces so checking ultra violent stability of the colour of your chosen product would be important.

I’ve just done a project at work which was signage but needed posts so I have researched a few options.

There are a number of composite deck and fence options - I can’t recall company names but some have wood fibre within them and have a speckled look to the resin and whilst weren’t wood they weren’t unattractive.

However what we ended up using was this;

I don’t fully understand the process but the lifespan below ground is 25 years!!!
