What glue simple chopping board

Postby Andyp » 12 May 2020, 07:29

I am not about to attempt anything like what Robert is doing. Just two of three edge jointed boards of beech.
I have Titebond 3, evostick Resin-W water resistant, and Wests two part epoxy.

This is for an everyday use board.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers

If the glue meets D4 then it should be fine
Don’t leave it in water or dishwash it obviously

If seen "D4" banded about here before and never made it much attention.

No mention of it on Titebonds website just ANSI/HPVA Type I which I will assume is the Yank standard and similar to D4 although I quick google cant confirm this.

I'll use the TB3 as the what is left of my West's is rock solid.

We don't put anything made of wood anywhere near the DW.

I bought a ginormous bottle of TB3 just before lockdown and that's fully waterproof (the glue, not the lockdown :D) though not (as with most 'waterproof' glues) suitable for constant immersion in the wet stuff aka boat building - Rob

Edit - and yes, nowhere near the dish washer
I no longer work for Axminster Tools & Machinery.

I went though a phase of watch lots of UT vids on chopping boards and most used TB3 including the Russian(?) chap who makes and sells them. He'd not likely use an inappropriate adhesive and risk customer complaints.

Yep, TB3 everyday.

Interesting, I still have some TB3 from 2 years go and looked on their website for sell by date information. They advise if the glue looks normal and has been stored in normal cool dry conditions, it should last 10+ years for use. 8-)
In my previous life, I was a tree.

Tis done with TB3 Just have to trim to size and work out how to do the cut out bits at either end to aid picking it up.

Emergency repairs to the chicken coop and run and pushed that little project back a bit.

Do you have a biscuit cutter? That can be used to build up an indented shape.
