There I was when I was building my workbench thinking I was using a Tusk Tenon.

Was I 'eck as like!

I've been following this chap on and off and came across this recent video.

I think you probably were. This chap's version is a little more complex than an ordinary tusk tenon, and the tenon is much skinnier than I'd expect, but otherwise it's just a through tenon, overlong, held in by a transverse wedge.
