Karl Holtey

As a proud owner of a Holtey plane, I received a message today from him to say he was retiring after 26yrs to try something new.

He is however making one last plane a No. 984.

It's sad that his skills will no longer be producing superbly crafted tools but I wish him well for the future.

I saw him a few years ago at West Dean ( I think), him and Bill Carter - both very unassuming gentlemen and very interesting to talk to.

That's a shame, not that I ever would have probably been in the market myself (though I would like to).

I imagined your plane just became that little bit more valuable...

Cheers

That would be nice though I don't intend to sell it just yet.
It's probably like other works of art which become more valuable with time when the "new" supply has stopped.
It's a long story but I got my plane from Karl at a massive discount - I was originally buying a kit from him.
I do use it and it has some battle scars - it took a dive, missed my foam rubber mats and chose the concrete floor instead!!
Still fully functional though.
