Clifton Block Plane

Had a really good look at the new Clifton block plane today at Peter Sefton's Open Day. A fabulous little plane but far too heavy for me. Compared to the bench mark (in my view anyway) LN 60.5, this comes some way behind. Great to see a British made block, but for me it's not as good, especially if much of the work is done single handed. Price is well over £200 as well. Needs to go on a diet :D - Rob

There's a reason Stanley made a bazillion block planes--none of them were perfect for everyone.:)

Yep, absolutely. I guess I'm used to something a little lighter and neater. Had it been smaller I would have probably got my order in by now..other guys I spoke to liked the heavier weight so I suppose it's what you get used to really - Rob
