Any idea's please

The place to talk about tools 'without tails', so come here with all your plane and chisel, burnisher and bradawl chatter.

Any idea's please

Postby justaskin » 05 Nov 2018, 12:28

Some time yesterday the object below was slung over my hedge. I have asked various people as to what it may be, with no positive results. Has any one seen a object like this and of what was it used for?

Richard

With long thin jaws like that I'd guess some kind of knife sharpening jig. The length allowing a shallow grind angle.

I'd go for a BENCH GRINDER SHARPENING VERSA-GRIND JIG

but I am cheating

Who remembers Scrit ? He used to come up with some photos of some fabulous old machinery and challenged us all to say what they were for.

Thank you Malcolm

I would go for Dressing a fly for a killer whale size trout.
But Rogers seems to make more sense, But why the unusual appearance.

Yes it’s a strange looking design. I can’t make out how the tool clamping works?

Slung over your hedge? Has there been any burglaries locally? Seriously, burglary scrotes are know to do that.

It’s part of a sharpening kit - Axminster sell it.

Thanks Rod. Having now seen the kit on Axi I ask myself as to why only that one bit was slung over the hedge?
Wonder who got the rest:?: :?
