...that if I have to put another dog hole in someplace, I have no hesitation about messing up the symmetry of the hand-surfaced hard maple top with ebony fittings and blacksmith-forged vises, I just get out the drill:

Kirk , proud of you . After all , the top of the bench is an expendable item which must work for you . Once the top has more holes than surface , you get another top . Simple .
