A lack of suitable devices in the kitchen make this a little problematic at the moment. This could be easiliy solved of course with Christmas approaching, if there is no other option.

I do not mind having another radio but a carting round a combination of gadgets will be too much trouble for me and even more so for the missus. I want to be able to just switch something on and press a button to find the right station.

Long wave frequencies will crawl out along the wiring. It really is a difficult problem to suppress and the radio will have turned itself up to maximum gain to receive a weak signal only a few uV above noise.
A lost cause especially as every previous episode of desert island discs ever broadcast is available on iPlayer.
