Weekend event

Just had a weekend at a steam and transport rally with my woodturning and the wife's knitting. While there managed to pick up a few bits for the workshop. I want to make some live steam models so have started to collect some metalworking tools.
Anyway, this is the weekend's small amount of bits.

A compressor which cost me the total amount of £16 and it is all working except the red knob on the switch is missing so I have ordered a new one for £12.79 and it comes with new gauges and manifold.

The rest of the pieces cost either £1 or £2 most of them are Moore and Wright items

The week before this I was given a vacuum pump which was new and faulty the person that brought it was sent a replacement and told to bin this unit. 5 minutes work and it is as good as new well it is new but now problem solved.

I wish I could find a vacuum pump like that I would love to try forming leather using vacuum pressure it is amazing what you can find.
I would also like to see your steam work. My late father had an interest in steam before he retired he was one of the operators of Armstrong's hydraulic swing bridge in Newcastle.

I am still getting the equipment also before that happens I need to get a larger workshop to fit everything in. I have my eyes on a lathe and milling machine.

MY63 it is just being lucky and being in the right place at the right time

You could always build a workshop it was easier than I thought. Well now that the shell is finished I can say that :)

Second hand engineering tools often go quite cheaply at some of the shows. I think it’s probably because only the old farts like us know how to use them. Young folks wouldn’t have a clue unless it’s got a battery of some sort in it. Anyone seen the video of two young lads trying (and failing) to use an old telephone with a dial on the front?!

I normally get the chance at first look before all the model engineers turn up and get all of the better bits or odd pieces, but this year a bit slow except for the radius gauges.
