Soft As Cheese!

Postby Rod » 22 Oct 2014, 19:47

I recently bought a second hand Warco Super Mini Lathe ( one of the many "clones" of the Sieg C3 ) at a price I couldn't resist.
My friend bought a 100mm 4jaw independent chuck for me (at a knock down price) at the Midlands MEX last week but couldn't get a corresponding back plate there so I ordered one from Arceurotrade which arrived today.
The chuck came with M8 mounting bolts but the backplate needs M6 studs to secure it to the lathe spindle which were not provided.
I had some Rolston bolts and nuts, of the correct length, which I cut the heads off to convert into studs.
However they must have been made of cheese as the threads failed and I finished up having to cut them off and extract them using my trusty Mole Wrench.
Thankfully found some better quality ones and now fixed!

That definitely needs a second workshop: one for wood, one for steel. Nice toy.....
