Does anyone have this problem

Here's the place to talk about all your table saws, bandsaws, routers and dust extractors. In fact anything that makes noise and uses electrickery.

Does anyone have this problem

Postby justaskin » 21 Oct 2015, 07:01

I have a Record Bandsaw BS350S and built a sledge for accurate mitreing and cross cutting. After making 2 runners for the table top track then fixing the to the sledge I find it will not slide.

On inspection I find the 2 tracks that I assumed should be parallel are out by 1mm over their length. :?

As I have had this saw a year or so. Any recommendations apart from the box of matches trick or buying a professional machine.

Use one track only?

I had that on my cheapo table saw and worked out where it was sticking the used a metal file slid in one slot until I had smoothed out the inaccuracy and it worked great after that.

Bit of work but worth it.

Could you run the sled in one slot and use one edge of the table for the 2nd guide? Or both edges of the table, if that is square.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

Frustrating but as others have suggested one slot should be fine.
If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door.

Difficult using one slot unless that slot is exactly the same width all the way up. Given the two slots don't match that's not guaranteed...

Other option would be to have the runner have some kind of pressure mechanism pushing the runner against one side of the slot.

For me one big selling point of Record Power is the five year guarantee, so if there is something wrong with the table and you have had the machine less than five years I would call them and raise the issue with them.
