I can't see how you use this stop

Here's the place to talk about all your table saws, bandsaws, routers and dust extractors. In fact anything that makes noise and uses electrickery.

I can't see how you use this stop

On my spindle moulder, there is an adjustable end-stop

You can flip it out of the way. I use this type of thing on my SCMS. You slide your wood along until it hits the stop and then make your cut. Uniform lengths result.

But on the spindle moulder that wont work because you have the fence - like this

so the wood has to be the right length to start with.

(Note to self......clean and tidy the floor before taking photos  )

So what's it for?

You could use it for cuttings tenons or moulding endgrain with the fence removed and the stock clamped to the sliding table. Stock would need cutting to length first.

uBt there's no point, surely? If the stock is cut to length then you just clamp it to the aluminium bar and slide it over the cutter.

I've a similar stop on my Hammer spindle & have used it on tenons before, it just gives a quick registry point without having to run the end grain against the fence.

Do you take the fence off then?

No, I just position it so it doesn't come in contact with the end grain.
