Trouble changing table saw arbour

Here's the place to talk about all your table saws, bandsaws, routers and dust extractors. In fact anything that makes noise and uses electrickery.

just putting this out there, in case no one has mentioned it :-)

Yes we are well passed this potential hurdle

It may have been fitted using some sort of loctite if the previous owner was concerned about it loosening when in use. Best way to heat it and soften any thread lock without damaging surrounding areas is using a hot air gun or hair dryer if that's easier. It'll take a while with just a hair dryer but worth a try before you get started with the big hammer technique.

Well, not surprised the arbour is hard to take off. I sent a message to the person I bought the saw from and he has told me he fitted the longer arbour soon after buying the saw and never changed it again. So that arbour has been on for a fair few years.

It has been suggested I give Woodford Tooling a call to ask if they have any experience and / or suggestions, can't see there is anything to lose so I will do that later this morning. Other than that I need to sort out a more robust length of pipe to act as a lever and I need to look into cutting down the Allen key as a pipe thicker than the curtain pole won't go onto the Allen key at the moment.

Terry.

my go to for a leaver on an allen key is a ring spanner.
There is only so much leverage you can put on an allen key, before you chew the end off .. or worse, damage the arbor

if there is room, you can get hex bits for socket wrenches.
