I've seen this phrase 'jointer/buzzer'. I know what a jointer is in UK-speak but a 'buzzer'?
"Buzz planer" was a term used in some catalogs for jointers in the 19th century. I have never heard the word "buzzer" used by Americans, and I hang out with a lot of guys on the Old Woodworking Machines list. A quick search of the list showed that at least 3 different Australians use the term, though.
I used to work with a Aussie woodworker and he called it a buzzer. A jointer is a american term not used in uk workshops. With youtube the term jointer has become more used but it is not correct. It is a surface planer.
