Faced with making lots of access holes etc in existing chipboard and up until now I had been using the excellent Worx saw (mentioned here). Then I suddenly remembered this gizmo from Trend. The Routabout.
In the box comes a jig, three Routabout rings, cutter and guide bush.
It's use couldn't be simpler. Decide where you want the 10" hole and screw the jig down.
Using the guide bush and cutter, simply start taking fine cuts round and round and round until you've gone all the way through. The wings on the jig prevent the router and jig from falling through the hole.
Do whatever work you need to do down the 'ole then insert a ring.
You turn the piece of chipboard that you cut out of the hole upside down and slot it into the ring.
How well does it do it? Well, pretty well TBH. There's a little bit of cleaning up on the disc edge so that it sits nicely into the ring
but apart from that it does what it says on the tin.
So much so that I bought the mini-version. This one comes with plastic caps to go in the hole.
My plan is to use then sell them
