Infeed/outfeed extension tables

Here's the place to talk about all your table saws, bandsaws, routers and dust extractors. In fact anything that makes noise and uses electrickery.

Infeed/outfeed extension tables

Postby RogerS » 04 Jul 2018, 08:53

Like many other P/T's, the tables (especially the outfeed) are a little on the short side. Felder can supply an aluminium extension leg for £220 (reduced from £260) :o for the outfeed and a tiddly extension for the infeed - for £120 :o Both +VAT and carriage.

I have some of those roller stands but TBH they are more trouble than they are worth. Nine times out of ten, the stock will dip ever so slightly, catch them and tipping them over. Either that or they aren't square to the table and so only provide a rudimentary point contact.

Not having the muscle mass I found that humping boards for the orangerie a struggle and so I knocked up these two tables.

Outfeed...

The Hammer has a nice couple of handy bolts firmly attached to the end of the outfeed table

and so a good starting point. Needs to be removable so a couple of grooves in the end piece

rebated to clear the nuts and grooves to slip over the bolts. Even this simple task brought it home to me just how useful my old router table was so I need to think about getting another (or making one)

Hinged support leg at t'other end

and a wee lock to keep it flopping about when not in use

All made from offcuts

and the finished article...

Infeed table

No easy bolts this time to take advantage of and so had to tap a couple of 8mm threads on the underside of the aluminium fence support. Then more of same. The only available offcuts for the support leg that I had available were a bit short hence the plastic riser at the foot of it.

Will put some Liberon lubricating wax on them both.

Looking forward to using them in anger
