Hi ed and welcome to the forum.

I have no idea on the technicalities of why Record would say that (did you ask why?) but a quick google found these people who offer a 1/4" blade for a BS250 https://www.bedfordsaw.co.uk/bandsaw-bl ... ower-bs250

I have no affiliation with that supplier just the first result on google.

I would be interested to hear what you are proposing to cut with such a small blade

I have some small blades for my Startrite 352 but I’ve never used them. I suppose the main issue is the type and size of guides.
I’d contact Ian at Tuffsaws for his advice, he’s very helpful.

I think it will be the blade guide that are the limiting factor, does your saw use ball bearings for the side guides? If you could use hardwood blocks as guides then the narrower blade will run with the teeth half in the wood.

Yes, I think you’re right Dave. The other issue though is that very narrow blades can bite into the tyres damaging them over time. I made a special guide for small blades but rarely use them.

I'd take off the existing guides and use the mounting holes to attach a block of hardwood instead. Then let the blade cut partway into the wood cutting its own guide.

Welcome to the forum by the way.
