Festool Domino Accident - warning graphic content

Here's the place to talk about all your table saws, bandsaws, routers and dust extractors. In fact anything that makes noise and uses electrickery.

For those who have the domino, please take great care if you are changing depth of plunge going from shallow cuts on something like a face frame to deeper cuts on the carcase. If you forget to change the setting when cutting a slot in a thinner piece the cutter will exit on the face, and if you stupid enough to be holding the face frame then you will cut a slot in the end of your finger. The slots cut in timber are very neat - the slots in fingers less so.

The following photos were taken at A&E before being referred to the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead that specialises in treating, amongst other things, hand trauma. Needless to say that I am off work for a while.

As the great Alan Coren once wrote "Facknell!!" :o

That is some impressive...um...er...laceration. Sympathy. I have a finger that doesn't work properly, 'cos I did summat similar, but further back on the digit and cut the tendon in such a way that they couldn't glue it back together (in 1973!). Gets caught in doors regularly. Pest.

Fortunately CI is soft. That cutter is still as sharp as anything and still in use!
