I do hate it when people just cancel auctions or at the end just decide they don't like the price and won't sell it to you. I thought ebay used to police this sort of behaviour, but maybe not any more. A couple of times I have been highest bidder for something and then just before auction ends the seller withdraws saying there is a mistake in the add or some other untruth.
It should be very simple. You list it, set a reserve if you want, there should be no facility for the buyer to withdraw from auction themselves and when the auction ends it is a legally enforcable contract.
