Wegner inspired fruit bowl

Postby Doug » 07 Sep 2017, 21:40

I made this a few weeks back for a good mate who loves all things Wegner, I took the design from Wegner's fruit bowl table a design I fancy making for myself when I have more time.

It's turned from spalted Sycamore which came from the old grounds of Buxton's grammar school, it's 14" dia & finished with food safe oil

The based turned with large socket for reverse chucking

Very nice Doug. What's the finish? It's really darkened up under finish, or is that just the photography?

Cheers
Mark

Thanks for the comments chaps,
The Sycamore was very spalted & dry so initially soaked up a lot of the oil hence it looking so dark when the photo was taken also being against a white background hasn't help as in the flesh it doesn't look as dark as the last two photos suggest.

Mark the finish was Chestnut's food safe oil which is basically paraffin oil I believe

Very nice indeed Doug. I find when taking photo's sometimes the piece comes out darker than it is. Do you change the White balance when taking it

Thanks Derek.

I only have my iPhone for taking photos mate so they are what they are, I guess I could alter them in the photo app though.

I like that shape a lot; it seems to be straight exterior sides and a curved interior...one to remember - Rob
