Fruit bowl in chestnut

The place to find and post anything related to the world of spinning wood at ridiculously high speeds!

Getting rid of the foot has improved it tremendously. You will only need to make new rings for the doughnut chuck to take different sized bowls. How did you find using the doughnut chuck.

Well done on a respectful 4th place the next one I expect a first at least from you :eusa-clap: :eusa-clap: :eusa-clap:

Thanks Derek.
The doughnut chuck is a bit scary. Like the button jaws it creates quite a draft when spinning. I had it on the slowest speed, 600 rpm I think, to remove the foot. At that speed the carnuba wax would not polish so I had to increase to get a good finish.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

It's a nice bowl Andy, but personally I think it would look even better with a nice sturdy foot lifting it off the table...

...run...

...duck...

...run some more!

Terry.

Well done that man - spot on!

I was fortunate to see this little beauty in the flesh and she's a mighty fine champion!

Lovely work Andy and your solution is certainly a winner 8-)

No need to duck and run Terry. I kind of agree but if the foot is too small in diameter the bowl will tip to one side if the contents are not evenly distributed. My original foot was way to small. Ideally I think it needs a small ring type foot about 2/3rds of the overall diameter. Maybe next time.......
