Oak Bowl

I have had this blank sitting in the wood shed for some time, anyway thought I would have a go at turning it.

This measures 13" across and is 2" deep and as the title is from Oak which was hard many trips to the grinder even after attacking it with a carbide tool.

Sanded to 600grit and finished with Cellulose sander sealer and the on to the wheeled buffing system.

Seems like a lot of wood and not much bowl. But excellently executed as always.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

Thanks Andy I think the wood dictated how this piece needed to be turned, it is quite a heavy piece. I don't think that all bowls should have a even thickness wall size.

I quite often have no idea what will come off the lathe I select a piece of wood and not until I start to turn it do I know what it will look like it all depends on the figure within it of any defects that I find do I want them or do I include them. That is the challenge that I enjoy

Thanks guys I must look out for some more large pieces as this was great to turn other than how hard it was
