I found this in a block of pine

Postby Dalboy » 17 Aug 2015, 20:09

I thought it about time I did a little turning so into the wood pile I dive and found a square of pine made up of three pieces of wood which I was given in a pile of large off cuts I think their children had been having fun with it as the grain was painted, anyway did not want the painted bits so stuck it on the lathe with absolutely no idea what to turn just wanted to turn something.
Grabbed some tools and just started to turn and this is what came out of the block yes it was in there all the time I just turned the bits away that was not needed.

Finished with sander sealer and then buffed

Lovely mate - like the different grain in each piece.

Very nice.

Lucky to find a good piece of pine like that.
