Play time

Postby Dalboy » 09 Sep 2015, 16:36

Well had a bit of play time in the shed. I wanted to do a bit more texturing and colouring I still have a long way to go.
Not sure of the wood on this one it measures 7" X 2 1/2" and stained with spirit stains and gold gilding cream the texturing was done using a B & Q cheap mini Arbortech tool.

I think the contrast of the smooth gold and the rough stain looks very interesting.
I have yet to try staining and texturing but that is the sort of thing I would be pleased to produce, nice one.
Regards,
Dave
My tool kit is almost complete, only a few more to get.

Thank you. I have always been afraid setting to a nicely turned piece as that is what you need to start with as any flaws in the finish can show through in certain places, but once you get over that then it is just a case of finding different ways which you can use to enhance that piece. They will not always work but have fun doing it and turn away the failure which is what can be done in many cases.
Watch plenty of U tube videos you will need to sort what is good and what is rubbish

Thank you guys I have returned to this turning as I have had time to look at it as well as a few comments on another site which I agree with, I have touched up were the coloured and textured area join the gold on the outer rim which I now think looks a lot cleaner.
