Bar tools

Apple with walnut inlays.

Unfortuneatly I did not leave enough room on the end of the corkscrews for the usual finials.

Nothing very fancy. The preparation of the blanks takes way more time than the actual lathe work. A forth set has already been well received so fingers crossed these go down well too. I had fun and learnt lots while making them.

Looks very good Andy.

Have you tried any strength testing?

Bit concerned about the joints in the corkscrew handle if they are right the way through in the manner of celtic knot blank preparation.

Bob, when I was first preparing the blanks I just had the horizontal piece inserted for exactly that reason. Then I got carried away and inserted the two pieces for the knot forgetting my previous anxieties. One of them has been used and as you typical have the corkscrew between the index and middle finger when pulling there is some relief on the joints. Time will tell.

A nice little selection Andy one thing that I would have done(just a personal thing) is the ends of the corkscrew I would have rounded over the same as the end of the bottle opener.

That way they would look more like a set.

As for using the ends on the corkscrew that really is an optional thing as the look good without and give you a slightly better choice of shape when turning them

Thanks Derek. The corkscrew were the hardest for me to do. Rounding over the ends of the bottle openers was easy as the other end is securely held. But the ends of the corkscrew handles have to be rounded at the same time prior to parting off. I need to practice that technique some more.
