No Name Yet

This piece has not got a name but just something I have been playing with. Made from tulip wood for the leaves and The bowl I believe is ABW.

C & C welcome

Very clever - how did you make the leaves?

Awesome! Well done that chap!

Rod might be asking how you made the leaves. 8-)

Are my eyes deceiving me or have I been driving too much today...
In my previous life, I was a tree.

Each level of leaves start out as a bowl turned to 2mm except the centre which has a small foot left on to raise it off of the one below.
Once it is turned then I mark out where the leaves need to be top and bottom remembering that they are to overlap I the carve a line and leave one side with a step and the other I blend in to the rest of the bowl. This has to be done both top and bottom of each set of leaves.
This is followed with a lot of sanding to 600grit going through the grades to give a smooth finish to the wood.
And to prove it is done top and bottom here is the bottom of the piece.

Lost for words, me.

Stunningly beautiful. Hard to believe that those leaves are wood. Brilliant.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers
