Glasses stands

Postby Doug » 18 Sep 2016, 18:43

The secretary of the local woodturning club asked if I could turn some glasses stands for their charity stall, I was handed a piece of paper with the design on & this is my first attempt, apparently they sell extremely well.

So first up a little spindle moulding

Followed by some routing

& the blanks were ready

on to the lathe & the body was turned, I filled the slot with a scrap of wood while turning to prevent tear out it also meant I could bring up the tail stock

followed by the nose

after a buff & polish eyes were applied

Clever, fun and pratical. I might have to have a go myself.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

Very nice Doug.
My first thought was a stand for beer glasses! 8-)

Good idea to stop putting glasses down anywhere and then spend hours looking for them. :D
