Yew Bowl

Postby Dalboy » 13 Jun 2017, 17:14

I have been working on this Yew bowl for the last couple of days really enjoyed doing this one. It measures 13" X 8 1/2" X 3 1/2", I have just counted my fingers and they are all still there.

C & C welcome.

Fantastic craftsmanship, I aspire to this level of woodworking. Love the fine walls and colour. :D

Hi Derek
Very nice job.
Its a pity that you are described as a Sapling trough the number of posts you made. To my mind you should qualify as a Old Oak on your experience.
I would like to copy your idea for a chunk of Strawberry tree bough. Will watch the knuckles :eusa-hand:

I think "Old Oak" status kicks in at 500 posts and Derek is nearly there.

You will have to make do with being a Nordic Pine before you reach the lofty heights of an Old Oak. I am sure there are reasons for these terms but I forget now, Mark?

Erm...just...because...

To be honest I added them back in because they were there in the original iteration of TWH, but they don't serve much purpose other than to denote post count. They certainly don't offer any kind of heirarchy as Derek has almost 500 posts of value and I have a lot more of little value! :? :obscene-drinkingcheers:

Here's what we chose:

Seedling 0
New Shoots 50
Sapling 250
Nordic Pine 500
Old Oak 1000
Sequoia 5000
Petrified Pine 10000

In terms of why each tree was chosen for which 'level' I really can't remember, I've slept since then.

I know where you are coming from there Mark. I have often thought that my own post count is proof positive that empty vessels make the most noise. :P
