Smashing time

Postby Dalboy » 17 Jun 2017, 19:42

Been playing again.
As the title I had a smashing time doing this one.
As of yet this bowl has not got a name. This was just experimenting with the rim. I kept the main bowl and underside simple as I wanted the rim to speak for this one.
Wood is unknown but I believe it is maple if you know different then please let me know(I don't get maple usually).

It measures 13 1/2" X 2 1/2" and the decoration was done using acrylic paints

Nice looking bowl.
Not so sure about the painted rim.

Do you use a template when painting?

Nice bowl us. :text-+1: for the template question.

And have you done something different with your photos? They appear only as thumbnails.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers

I only used masking tape and had to cut and move it then spray and remove the tape and spray again sound like a lot of work but not as bad as it sounds

Hopefully photo's sorted

I like the shape and the wood is lovely. Not too sure about the painted rim, looks a bit 'flat' to me but a lovely bowl :-)

Thank you I tend to paint mainly the plainer looking woods with wood that has a great grain I let that do the talking.
Both this and the yew bowl I turned will be entered into our club competition next month.
