Bowl Facelift

Postby Dalboy » 22 Sep 2017, 17:38

I have been asked by my dear mum for a bowl she can give to a dear friend as a Christmas present. The friend is quite religious so I cleaned the inside so the finish did not give any problems when using the Pyrography machine. I am happy with the outcome just hope it is what is needed.
I have not decorated more than half a dozen pieces with the machine. I even put a name and wood type on the bottom does this look OK and should I continue to burn this on the bottom of my pieces in other words does it look tidy enough

Those praying hands look very neat Derek. I am all for signing pieces (I keep forgetting), maybe dating too. I am not sure whether you could get the lettering a little neater with practice or with the aid of a stencil.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers

Lovely job Derek :eusa-clap:

I’m all for signing & dating, it’s on the bottom so doesn’t detract from the piece & as we all know only woodturners look at the bottom of a piece anyway :eusa-think:

Without meaning to be disrespectful, I saw the headline and hoped that this was going to be you re-turning that coloured bowl you posted the other day, with just a little skim of the surface. ;) :eusa-whistle:

It's a hand held, burny pen style one of memory serves.

My dear old mum (94) has seen a photo today via my sister and she loves it and she is sure her friend will be over the moon. So I got that one right

Not quite this uses wire as the heated element unlike the soldering iron type which take forever to cool down so you can change the bits.

I used to have the one like this link . I do welding too , and welding gloves are fine for holding hot bits :-)

I've never heard them referred to as "machines" before, which is why I asked about lasers.

I have a laser engraver which I used these days.
