Ash bowl

Postby Dalboy » 19 Apr 2018, 18:41

Getting ready to do a turning demo and was going to take the rough turned piece to work on so in preparation I started by returning the tenon and just take enough off to take out any wobble but found that it was tearing out something terrible so decided to complete it and find another one to take. I used cellulose sander sealer to help with the tear out, after applying and fine cuts repeated was able to get a good finish.
Wood is Ash and is 7" X 1 1/2" there is so much going on in the grain from spalting to some ripple. The finish was kept simple Chestnut Sander sealer and Woodwax22

That grain/figure does look all over the place. Nice result though.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

Thank you Malcolm and Andy. More of a case of some spalting but still enough to keep me on my toes
