Darn you for suggesting I add an extra couple of holes. I thought I had finished with drilling and plugging. You are right though.
Woke up in the middle of the night with a solution for the base. I had not mentioned this before but it is not flat and it is far to big to get any sort of reverse chucking solution. There is less than 1/2" gap between the bowl and lathe bed.

I remembered but I think it looks awful. I like the idea of merging by initials together but doing it freehand is not good.

I reckon you need a bit more of an artyfarty flourish to your initials, then it would look fine. It also currently reads AP Beech on the bowl...relative? - Rob
