Chestnut Sun Burst

Chestnut burr sanded to 400 grit and then coloured with red and yellow water based dyes and finished with Danish oil before giving it a buff. Measures 5 1/2" X 2 1/2"

C & C welcome

Not yet had the opportunity to turn a burl. All those jagged edges flying round a 600rpm demand some respect and some little skill I imagine.
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers

Wow! Did you direct the colours or just dump them on and let them find their own way?
Cheers

Thank you guys.

Andy not as bad as you think just remember to keep everything behind the toolrest and you should not have any problems and also be aware of the tool position. Other than that turn as normal.

Mark the dye comes in a concentrated form so needs adding to water at 10parts water to 1 part dye but I did it more like 100 to 1. After wetting the piece and resanding I then applied the red and let dry rubbed down with sandpaper which leave the red in the softer material then apply the yellow which in this case calmed down the red and turning it more of an orange colour
