Lidded Pot. in willow and cherry

Postby Andyp » 17 Jun 2019, 05:49

My first go at a lidded pot. The grain on this wood really took me by surprise. Brownie points available for anyone who can guess what it is. The lid, I think is cherry.

Nice! From the colour rather than the grain - olive? Or as an outside bet - yew.

Thanks Terry.
By the way as far as the wood is concerned there is plenty of a differnt species within the same genus being used around the country at the moment.

Nice little pot Andy not sure about the lid would have been nice in the same wood.

Could it be ornamental cherry by any chance

Thanks Derek,
If I had a plan before I started as to what I wanted to make it could have had a lid in the same wood. I kind of went with the flow and then it was too late.

The wood is willow, of the weeping variety.

I will have to assume that those light coloured flecks are a kind of spalting.
