Rice Bowl

Postby selectortone » 26 Aug 2019, 16:49

Like much of Japanese turning, I love the shape of the traditional Japanese rice bowl.

I picked up a lump of sapale at a timber merchants recently, measuring approx 6"x6"x4". Perfect for a rice bowl, and here it is. I notice from the pics that there are still a few little grains of wax to buff out in the "tramlines" (my old eyes aren't what they used to be) but all in all, I'm quite pleased with it:

Nice looking bowl. It is surprising the amount of time after taking a photo what you see that you have missed.
