Two bowls and other bits

Postby Dalboy » 10 May 2020, 20:07

Managed to get quite a bit done today even if it was not all completed items.

Two bowls done this afternoon the first a spalted bowl believed to be beech and the second Ash burnt on the outside and wire brushed the grain filled with "Hot Pink" wax and then a coat of woodwax over the top.

Then sorted but not completed a musical themed bowl and a VE day vase (a bit late I know) which I managed to get some of the back done.

On top of that cut up some burrs into rough blank sizes ready for turning.

I'm trying to work out your penultimate picture Derek.

What is with the copper wire on the left and the little pile of metallic items?

Same here. Wondering if the musical notes will hang from the ends of the copper twists...

The copper wires are on that piece of wood only as somewhere to help get them to form a circle once removed they will stay in a curved form each being smaller than the previous one 5 in total to form the lines that musical notes are drawn on, the Ali notes will fit onto them. this will be fixed to the black area of the bowl rim but in three separate sections ie three lines of a musical score and yes it will be a tune but not with all the information because of the size that I could cut everything out of the Ali.
Hope that clears it up a little

picture of all the notes cut out each no taller than 1"

Thanks Derek.
Hopefully some lacquer on the wires at least otherwise they will end up greenish?
