Reminds me of when I did a supplier audit at a veneer mill in Slovenia.
They also mounted huge pine logs, roughed off all the edges till round and then started peeling the log giving a continuous veneer which was then cut off to length and dried. Size 9' by 6'

Here is a video of rotary slicing. Looking at the thickness of the slice, looks like it will be used for plywood.
The sliced veneer is about 0.5mm
